The News From Our House
Today is 9/11, not just at our house, but everywhere. Three of my children were born after that dreadful day, so before they left for school we had a quick history lesson. Never forget!
Rachel, my second-born, started homeschool today. This is something she really wants, (we homeschooled in the past) so I told her we could do it this year and reevaluate from there. All of her curriculum isn't here yet, so today she worked on math, started her photography class (she is very excited about it), and we read a chapter in Proverbs together. I also took her out to lunch. :) Here she is- she did not want me to take her picture, but I'm her mom and I want o remember this day.

In the Kitchen Cont.
In the Kitchen
The recipe I use (http://theelliotthomestead.com/2011/07/soaked-whole-wheat-bread/) makes three large loaves or four smaller loaves. I made three yesterday.

Sunday Lunch
Halibut chowder for lunch. So good!
Church was good this morning. I teared up singing the verses to patriotic songs. So meaningful, and thought provoking- especially with the current state of our country.
I'm thankful to be an American. For our founding fathers, for or military- past and present. For freedom and liberty.
Happy 4th of July week! Enjoy your time with family and friends as you celebrate our independence!

Rainy Day
Woke up to thunder this morning, or more accurately, thunder woke me up this morning. Thunder and lightning are very rare here.
I decided to take advantage of the rainy day and make soup and bread. Moose barley soup and whole wheat bread. Yum!
Now it's time to take Sarah in to get her stitches removed. One of her sisters accidentally hit her with a raft paddle on Monday. Never a dull moment!

A Fresh Start
I live in Alaska with my husband and five children. We are expecting number six in early Dec. This is the BEST time of year in Alaska- summer! We are having a phenomenal June, although I missed much of it because I was traveling with four of the kids. We are having warm sunny days and there is green all around. I love it!
The aforementioned trip was to WA. My parents live in eastern WA, and my sister lives in western WA. We spent time in both places. The main reason for the trip was my baby brother's high school graduation.
